Naina Panemanglor
Director
Naina Panemanglor is a writer, filmmaker and storyteller who finds inspiration in the lives of ordinary people. With a keen observational eye, she brings stories alive by drawing attention to the little moments that tend to go unnoticed.
Born and raised in Pune, Naina worked in the advertising industry for 2 years before moving into direction. She joined the London Film School in 2010, keen to sharpen her technical skills and to learn the art of storytelling through moving images. On her return to India, Naina worked on several critically acclaimed Independent Feature Films like ‘Umrika’ and ‘Masaan.’ Her own short films, ‘Maya’ and ‘Odh’ have been selected for various international film festivals including the Satyajit Ray Foundation’s Short Film Competition at the London Indian Film Festival and the Chicago South Asian Film Festival.
Naina has directed films for clients like Asian Paints, Tata Tea, Twitter and Google. She is also in the process of writing and developing her first feature film.
A story should have a beginning, a middle and an end… but not necessarily in that order.

HP – Reinvent Learning with Shruti Seth
We experienced the joys of Motherhood through the eyes of Shruti Seth on this film. Sweet anecdotes, a great attention to the little details and the ever versatile HP printer helped recreate the special relationship between Shruti and her daughter. What made this film extra special was it’s almost all women crew!

View ProjectWhen the melody & lyrics of my first song “Bebasi” as a Singer Song-writer came alive visually & met the vision that I had… I realized that Naina has a unique talent. Not only did she understand the soul of our music she expressed it in a way that was aesthetic, subtle & tasteful.

Odh
As the two primary characters in this film were child actors, we spent over 6 days in rehearsals to develop the bond that finally comes alive in the film. Odh was essentially a road film. On a tiny budget we carted a crew and cast of 30 people to 3 vastly different locales around Maharastra. The film was shot over 6 days on 16mm film.

Maya
Minus the two shots of the steam engine, this film was shot completely inside a studio in London. A crew of 6 built the sets from scratch. We used Back projections along with lighting effects to create a sense of movement. We were also lucky enough to shoot a real steam engine. Maya was shot on 35mm Black and white film.
